Kensington is one of the hands down best places in all of Toronto to take in not only street art but incredible culture!
I love going to Kensington, snapping some pics, finding some vintage deals, taking a nice lunch and then buying fresh bread, cheese and meat! Even though I have had so many street art pictures of Kensington piling up, I have so far held off in posting them until I had a large enough gallery to truly astound and show how amazing it really is.
And now, I am so so so excited to present what will one of my favourite posts and all display the wonderful finds that Kensington has to offer!
Heading into Kensington, there is a wonderful mural that marks your entrance, and only shows that there is much more to come.
While sneaking my way though a back alley to snap a few pics of graffiti, this little squirrel popped out from under the gate and scared the bajeeba’s out of me!!! Then I noticed he had a wonderful treat- a huge moldy bagel! Love this picture, not only for the squirrel but for the heart on the ground too.
This is what I was trying to take a picture of when I got the surprise visit from the squirrel. Plus that wordpress bit in the corner made me possibly a little bit too excited!
I love this mural!! I want it painted on my bedroom wall- right!!??
Amazing right?? I am never let down in Kensington! Plus added bonus with the email address at the bottom! Yay- new friends.
Yes, it’s quite obvious, any graffiti that shows hearts or love- I am all over it.
This is a very special one! Unfortunately, the alley was too narrow for me to step back and capture the entire thing in one picture, but I did capture a few pics of the best parts. This mural is not only colourful and amazing and bright and holds a bazillion different things to look at- but it’s also important.
It’s the Chick Graffiti!! It’s all over Toronto. I talked about it briefly before when I snapped some pics of the chicks in Graffiti Alley.
This little sushi eating Chick was definitely a very exciting find!
I was really excited to find this beautiful and moving piece of Amy Winehouse. The tear streaking down is the perfect added touch.
Okay, yes this is not street art. BUT I did find it in Kensington, and it made me laugh my ass off, so I need to share!
Every time I find more work of Gregory Alan Elliott I get very excited! I love the sayings he writes all over town, I am constantly inspired by the things he writes- and they always leave me with a smile!
This next piece is another one that leaves me smiling.
Why do I love sappy stuff so much?? Anyways, each paper is made up of different quotes having to do with love.
This one was my favourite- Bealtes:
This work of art is absolutely impossible to miss if you hit up Kensington. It is right in the centre, not hidden down and alley, and with it’s bright colours, it catches everyones eyes!
Love me some Rob Ford graffiti- what is squirting out his ears though??
This cutie can be found appropriately on the side of a fruit and veggie vendor.
Oh how I enjoyed this one.
“I loved graffiti, until I met graffiti writers.”
Oh, so funny and ironic.
Another appearance by UB5000- god this work is amazing! Love these fishes and dude smoking up, riding a fish and being merry!
Also this is appropriately found on the side of a fish store- it stinks but worth it for a look at this art!
Wow! So i finally reached the end of this Kensington picture run that I have been gathering up! The surrounding area has some amazing graffiti as well- so I always enjoy my walk to and from Kensington too! Because there was so many pictures, I had to be selective, and therefore did not include these ones.
Of course, you will see them in another post, another day!
